Every Drop
MULTICAL 21 is a static water meter. It has no movable parts and thus no wear and tear. With no movable parts the meter is not affected by water impurity or magnetic interference.
Because of the ultrasonic metering method, the MULTICAL 21 starts registering flow down to 3 litres/hour.
Why choose ultrasound?
All Kamstrup flow meters are based on the ultrasonic measuring principle, as has been the case since 1991. 20 years experience with ultrasonic meters has proven that this technology is indeed the most reliable and long-term stable. No other measuring principle provides the same accuracy and robustness.
Working principle
Two ultrasonic transducers send sound signals both against and with the flow direction. The ultrasonic signal travelling with the flow direction reaches the opposite transducer first and the time difference between the two signals can be converted to a flow velocity and thus a volume.
An ultrasonic water meter consists of two parts:
- Flow part with ultrasonic transducers
- An integrator containing all electronics and communication
In MULTICAL 21 the two parts are put together in one meter casing to achieve a more compact design and a stronger protection.
The electronic water meter offers a wealth of opportunities.
Each meter works as a minicomputer with memory and transmitter and this allows for more than just registering water consumption for billing purpose. With MULTICAL 21 it is possible to improve customer service with e.g. leakage detection.
