Easy Meter Reading

Few things are more annoying than receiving incorrectly filled out meter reading forms.

The method of collecting data from the water meters is an important parameter when settling advantages and disadvantages.

End of self-read submission forms

Wireless meter reading means the end of insecure self-reading by the consumer.
The scheduled reading is beyond doubt the most ungrateful duty of supplying water: missing or faulty self-reading forms are a well known problem.

Wireless readings of the water meter render the consumer superfluous in the meter reading process. But there is more:

Quick and broad overview of operation and consumption

Wireless reading provides much more information than manual reading.
At each reading the water meter send a small package of data. The data package contains information on:

  • Current status of accumulated flow
  • Accumulated flow per 1 of current month. Alternatively max flow of last month
  • List of active info codes
  • List of info codes that have been active in the past 30 days

An info code can be ‘leak’.

The calendar in the water meter enables the water supplier to get information from a given date no matter when the reading is being performed.
By taking meter readings from the same target date from all water meters the supplier can gather a detailed overview of the entire supply area.

Improved customer service

Wireless reading and calendar are vital tools for handling conflicts with consumers.

The wireless reading offers an easy opportunity for immediate readings in case of conflicts and change of occupancy.

Via the optical eye the water supplier can read the consumption 460 days back in time. Monthly consumptions will be stored in the memory for 36 months.
Up till 50 events like leak or attempted tamper are stored in the memory together with the date of the event.

A large and easily readable display with digital figures makes it easy for the consumer to keep an eye on his own consumption.

How wireless meter reading works

The MULTICAL 21 water meter contains a radio module that transmits data to a receiver via the common Wireless M-Bus standard. Every 16 seconds a data package is being transmitted.

The receiver is a small USB key.
Using an antenna, the MULTICAL 21 can be read from a car passing by.

The module for wireless communication is integrated in the water meter from factory. This means that even if the water supplier does not wish wireless reading from the beginning, the water meter is already prepared for the upgrade from manual to wireless reading.

The programme for wireless reading of the MULTICAL 21 can be downloaded directly from the Kamstrup homepage.
The programme is user friendly and requires no training.
